Alan D. Anderson Summer Youth Fire Academy
The Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Foundation’s Alan D. Anderson Summer Youth Fire Academy offers students an exciting opportunity to explore what it takes to become a first responder. This free, two-week program immerses high school students in the world of fire and emergency services through a mix of hands-on training and classroom instruction.
Participants will gain firsthand experience in firefighting, emergency medical response, public education, and more – making it a one-of-a-kind leadership opportunity for teens passionate about helping others.
Eligibility and Program Highlights
Open to Hillsborough County students ages 14 to 18, the academy welcomes high school students and recent graduates. A selection panel carefully reviews all applications, with class size determining final enrollment.
The program is completely free for participants and is sponsored by the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Foundation
All gear and food—including uniforms, boots, lunch, snacks, and drinks—are provided
Daily attendance, including orientation and graduation, is mandatory
Transportation is not provided
