Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) is proud to serve the residents and visitors within the 909 square miles of unincorporated Hillsborough County, Florida, with professionalism, dedication, and compassion. As one of the largest and busiest fire rescue departments in the state, HCFR offers a comprehensive range of emergency services, including fire suppression, advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical care, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, fire inspections, and disaster preparedness.
Founded with a mission to protect lives and property, HCFR operates 46 strategically located fire stations throughout the unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County. Our department responds to nearly 140,000 emergency calls annually, making HCFR one of the top-performing fire rescue agencies in the southeastern United States.
Our team comprises over 1,250 highly trained and certified career firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and support staff, all of whom are dedicated to public safety and community service. HCFR also manages one of the state's most advanced emergency communications and dispatch centers, playing a vital role in hurricane response, evacuation planning, and community risk reduction initiatives.
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is the lead agency responsible for coordinating disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts across Hillsborough County. As part of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, OEM plays a critical role in protecting lives and property during natural disasters, public health emergencies, and other large-scale incidents.
